Laser Cavity Detection

Laser cavity detection is one of the most technologically advanced tools available to dentists today. We have adopted this technology and our Baytown, TX area patients absolutely love the results they’re seeing and so are we!

Without laser detection, it is becoming harder and harder to detect tooth decay. Did you know that tooth decay is actually microscopic tears in your tooth enamel? Once the decay has penetrated the enamel, it quickly spreads itself into the softer surface underneath. Traditional X-ray devices are unable to detect this decay. We use our Non invasive laser cavity detection by beaming laser light onto the chewing area of your teeth. While scanning your teeth, the readout portion of the machine checks the density of your tooth structure. It then calculates the possibility of tooth decay. When increased light wavelengths register, our team will be notified that there might be some decay in this area.

By detecting your tooth decay earlier, we are able to prevent cavities from forming. When we find a weak area, we will apply fluoride that will remove the tooth decay during its early stages, stopping the cavity from ever forming. If a cavity is detected before it penetrates the dentin, we can apply a dental sealant to the area in order to prevent the cavity from fully forming. Early detection is the best way for you to avoid potentially invasive, costly dental procedures that wouldn’t have been necessary if the symptoms were found earlier. Visit Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti in our Baytown, TX practice for a consultation today!

Digital X-Rays

Diagnosis of dental issues, whether it’s an infection, treatment planning for extractions or implants, or simply to look for hidden cavities, requires the use of X-rays. Instead of using traditional bitewing x-rays, we use more advanced technology with digital x-rays at our Baytown, TX dental practice. Digital X-rays are fast, effective, and the results are very precise.

There are many benefits to our patients when getting digital x-rays, including the following:

1. They use up to 80 percent less radiation, making it a safer option.
2. Digital images can be adjusted, rotated, and color coded for proper diagnosing.
3. The process is more comfortable by using a small sensor instead of large, uncomfortably fitting bitewings.
4. They are available instantly instead of needing to go through a processing step.
5. Our dentist Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti can use them as an education tool by showing the patient x-ray images on a computer screen.

Digital X-rays provide multiple advantages for the patients and the dentist. We have replaced traditional X-rays with these new, more advanced X-rays and have found it to be a more improved process from beginning to end. TMJ

The temporomandibular joint is a joint connecting the jaw to the temporal bone in the skull. Abbreviated as or TMJ, it is the joint that helps people chew, talk, and open or close their mouth. There is a disorder of the TMJ called TMD that can cause a variety of side effects, making things like eating and opening the mouth extremely painful.

Some of the more common symptoms of TMJ disorders include the jaw getting stuck while opened or closed, grinding at night, headaches or pain in the ears, pain when opening and closing the mouth, difficulty chewing, and hearing popping or clicking sounds when opening the mouth.

Our dental practice provides a variety of treatment options for TMJ disorder, to help alleviate pain and reduce popping and locking of the jaw. Our dentist Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti may begin by recommending a night guard to be custom made, which protects the patient from teeth grinding at night. This can help relieve tension on the jaw, and reduce morning headaches, teeth pain, and ear pain. There are also some surgery options for TMJ, though these are the last resort.

If you have any of the above symptoms of TMJ, call us at 281-421-5950 for a consultation in our Baytown, TX dental practice.

Crowns

Crowns are a type of restoration that is performed right here in our Baytown office by Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, and are placed for a variety of different reasons. While many patients do indeed get them as a restorative option, such as to protect a tooth at risk of breaking off or one that has deep decay, crowns are also desired for cosmetic reasons. Since crowns are typically less expensive than veneers, many patients opt for them to cover cracks in their teeth, staining, or discoloration.

Patients see us about 2-3 times in total for crowns placement. The straightforward process is as follows:
1. Patients first have a consultation to have a look at the tooth, clean it thoroughly and then it is prepared by being filed down.
2. Then, we make an impression of the tooth in order to have a permanent crown fabricated.
3. After the fabricated crown is back from the lab, our patient returns to our office to have the crown bonded to their tooth. The bonding dries quickly, after which it is polished.

Make an appointment for your crown by calling Baytown Cosmetic and Family Dentist at 281-421-5950.

Implant Restoration

Here at Ivi Z. Sanguinetti DDS,PA, we provide many types of restoration services for impaired and missing teeth, including implant restoration. Implant restoration includes options for replacing missing teeth, whether it is an implant and crown for a single missing tooth, or a bridge or denture supported with implants for multiple missing teeth.

Implants are made with titanium metal posts implanted into the jawbone of the patient. With dentures and bridges, there are 2-4 implants in the mouth to hold the device in place. Traditional dental implants have the metal post in the jawbone, followed by an abutment and crown placed over the top. The crown acts as the tooth surface, and is what the patient eats with.

We also provide implant restorations with bridges, as a way for patients to have more comfort and stability in their teeth replacement options. This lets them have their restorations for longer periods of time, and don’t have to worry about them shifting or falling out. Patients can also eat a wider variety of foods when they use implants for restorations.

Call us at 281-421-5950 to schedule an implant restoration appointment with
Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti.
