Preventative Dental Care

Preventive dentistry is performing procedures on the teeth and gums that will prevent future problems. This can range from daily brushing and flossing to regular dental cleanings to application of fluorides and sealants. Our team works hard to make sure our patients are properly diagnosed and treated through the use of preventative dentistry.

Every patient has different dental needs when it comes to prevention. It has been well documented that oral health can have a wide ranging impact on overall health and well-being, so regular check-ups are imperative when it comes to proper diagnosis and treatment. Preventative dentistry is based on sound clinical examinations and diagnosis. Through regular dental visits, x-rays, sealants, cleanings and fluoride treatments, patients are able to prevent more costly dental procedures further down the line. Waiting to see a dentist until something hurts is not recommended. Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti believes in catching the problems before it progresses to the point of pain and infection.

Not only can patients take preventative steps by visiting their dentist, they can also take steps at home. During office visits, Dr. Sanguinetti puts an emphasis on preventative care to his patients. Preventive care is the basic things patients should be doing to take care of their teeth and gums: brushing, flossing, and maintaining a healthy diet. You should brush at least twice a day and incorporate a regular flossing routine. Creating a regular oral hygiene routine at home will help maintain a healthy smile that will last a lifetime.

Rotary Endodontics

When someone is told they need a root canal procedure, their first reaction is to be worried because they are convinced the procedure will be painful. But what if it was completely pain-free? Thanks to rotary endodontic technology, we are able to perform root canal procedures with great precision and little to no pain.

The misconceptions regarding root canal procedures often force patients to choose more extreme options. We will go to great lengths to preserve your teeth rather than extracting them. While most believe that root canals cause pain, in reality, we use them relieve pain. It’s much less invasive to receive endodontic therapy than it would be to have your tooth pulled and then replaced with a dental implant or any number of dental appliances.

Root canal procedures are used for clearing out an infection that has formed in your tooth’s pulp chamber and roots. This treatment used to be done using small files that would scrape away the infected tissue. Rotary endodontics utilizes a more modern method because they use electric handpieces. Our electric handpieces make are much more comfortable for the patient because there is no bothersome drilling noise and the procedure is completed much faster than in the past.

If you’ve been told that you need a root canal and would like to take advantage of this modern treatment, you can set up an appointment at Ivi Z. Sanguinetti DDS,PA in Baytown, TX or by calling 281-421-5950 or visit us online atwww.singing-dentist.com

Invisalign

Having straight teeth would be great, wouldn’t it? You’re probably holding off though, because you don’t want to deal with the embarrassment of having a mouth full of braces. Patients who want to straighten their teeth without the hassle and appearance of metal braces are quickly turning to Invisalign. Thanks to these innovative aligners, we have the ability to straighten your teeth quickly and discretely.

Invisalign aligners are plastic, removable mouth pieces that gradually straighten teeth over time. They give less force per week and cause considerably less pain to straighten teeth compared to traditional braces. Since the pieces are transparent, you are able to maintain an aesthetically pleasing smile while improving it at the same time. One of the main complaints of traditional braces, while they are effective, they often leave stain marks on the teeth. This is not the case with Invisalign; patients are able to remove the mouth pieces in order to brush regularly.

The mouth pieces are created by a 3D computer imaging technology. As the teeth begin to shift, new aligners will be used to replace the originals. Each aligner is made to perfectly fit the stage that the teeth are in at that time. The mouth pieces are only taken out to eat and brush; they are typically worn at least 22 hours a day.

Compared to bracket traditional, Invisalign is a much safer option. Patients who use Invisalign often avoid damage to the gums and supporting tissues. If you choose Invisalign, you will also avoid bacteria build up that would result through traditional braces. The best part is that you can have your regular dental checkups while using Invisalign. Traditional braces prevent X-rays and regular cleanings while the removable aligners used through Invisalign can be removed allowing for dentist access. So we can keep an eye on your teeth’s health while they’re being straightened! Call us at (281) 421-5950 and start fixing your smile now.

Sealants

We know that trying to get your child to consistently brush and floss can be a daunting task. Parents who take preventative measures are putting their children in a great position to have a smile they can be proud of throughout their life. One of the most effective preventative measures parents and children can take is utilizing dental sealants. Sealants are typically used to protect children’s teeth between the ages of 6-14.

Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surface of the teeth, particularly the back teeth (molars and premolars). Sealants are a great way to prevent tooth decay because it bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, creating a protective seal over the enamel of each tooth. In some cases, dental sealants may also be utilized for baby teeth, but this is only in cases when the teeth have deep depressions and grooves.

Having dental sealants applied is simple and non-invasive. Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti can complete the procedure in just a few minutes. She will start by thoroughly cleaning the teeth and dry the area. An acid solution is the applied to the chewing surface of the teeth to roughen them; this helps the sealant bond properly to the teeth. Dr. Sanguinetti then dries the teeth applies the sealant directly to each tooth. The sealant will protect teeth from decay for up to ten years. Regular check-ups and cleanings are recommended to monitor the effectiveness of the sealant.

If you think you child could benefit from dental sealants, call Dr Sanguinetti's office at 281-421-5950 to schedule an appointment.

Intraoral Camera

The medical field is ever-changing, especially in the dentistry profession. New technologies are constantly being brought to the market. One of the newest technologies available is the intraoral camera. We have adopted this new technology to better diagnose and treat our patients.
The intraoral camera has adds a whole new viewing source for dentists. While X-rays are still very effective, this innovative digital camera is able to see more surface area than x-rays, allowing for a more accurate diagnosis of the early stages of disease. The intraoral camera is about the size of a dental mirror and is used in the same manner.

This camera acts as an all-in-one photography tool that can create still pictures and videos. With a chairside monitor, patients are able to see a video in real time of their teeth and areas of concern can be captured as a picture, allowing for better patient understanding of their diagnosis. The camera delivers consistently clear, high-resolution dental digital photography images that can be easily shared with patients—patients are now able to see exactly what the doctor is seeing.

We have incorporated this technology into his practice in order to better assist our patients. The high quality images from the camera can be utilized to gain acceptance for various procedures from your insurance company. Thanks to the camera’s advanced sensor and lens, Dr. Sanguinetti can easily view even the smallest details such as cracks, cavities and tooth wear better than ever before.

Dental Hygiene

The best preventative measure dental patients can take is proper oral hygiene at home. This process includes brushing at least twice a day and flossing regularly. We believe that patient education is a key factor in keeping mouths healthy and preventing disease in the future.

We provide our patients with the tools necessary to maintain a healthy smile. Regular brushing and flossing is a must when it comes to proper oral hygiene. You should also know which toothpaste is best for your particular needs.  With the wide array of options available, you need to know which product will work best for your oral hygiene goals. Proper brushing technique is also key when it comes to maintaining your oral hygiene. Those who brush properly are more likely to have a white smile, good breath and better overall health.

Flossing is also essential in the tooth care process. Our staff strongly urges our patients to floss regularly. Not only can flossing improve tooth health, it is also very important in keeping gums healthy.  The places where the gums and teeth meet are where flossing takes a major role. Food particles or bacteria can become lodged here and over time, this can cause tartar and gingivitis. Periodic cleanings and treatments are a necessity in order to maintain good oral hygiene. Not only can your teeth be affected by unhealthy gums, but periodontal disease (gum disease) has been linked to heart health. When it comes to teeth health, it is important to make regular visits to your dentist in order to properly care for and protect your overall health.

White Fillings

At Ivi Z. Sanguinetti DDS,PA, we offer our patients an option for filling their cavities with white fillings. White fillings are comprised of composite resin and make a great alternative to the traditional amalgam fillings, which are silver in color. White fillings are made to match the shade of the natural tooth so there is that cosmetic benefit. They can also be used for other uses, like filling in gaps between teeth and covering discoloration.

Benefits of getting white fillings include the following:
  • The tooth has restored strength due to the quality composite resin that is affixed and bonded to the tooth.
  • The fillings can be made any color, so they match the exact shade of the natural tooth.
  • White fillings are free of mercury, therefore the safest and healthiest filing option for cavities.
  • Less of the natural tooth is removed during the process of completing a white filling.
Visit Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti in Baytown, TX to discuss the benefits and procedure of getting white fillings. Call at 281-421-5950 to make an appointment.

Crowns

Crowns are a type of restoration that is performed right here in our Baytown office by Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, and are placed for a variety of different reasons. While many patients do indeed get them as a restorative option, such as to protect a tooth at risk of breaking off or one that has deep decay, crowns are also desired for cosmetic reasons. Since crowns are typically less expensive than veneers, many patients opt for them to cover cracks in their teeth, staining, or discoloration.

Patients see us about 2-3 times in total for crowns placement. The straightforward process is as follows:
1. Patients first have a consultation to have a look at the tooth, clean it thoroughly and then it is prepared by being filed down.
2. Then, we make an impression of the tooth in order to have a permanent crown fabricated.
3. After the fabricated crown is back from the lab, our patient returns to our office to have the crown bonded to their tooth. The bonding dries quickly, after which it is polished.

Make an appointment for your crown by calling Baytown Cosmetic and Family Dentist at 281-421-5950.

Implant Restoration

Here at Ivi Z. Sanguinetti DDS,PA, we provide many types of restoration services for impaired and missing teeth, including implant restoration. Implant restoration includes options for replacing missing teeth, whether it is an implant and crown for a single missing tooth, or a bridge or denture supported with implants for multiple missing teeth.

Implants are made with titanium metal posts implanted into the jawbone of the patient. With dentures and bridges, there are 2-4 implants in the mouth to hold the device in place. Traditional dental implants have the metal post in the jawbone, followed by an abutment and crown placed over the top. The crown acts as the tooth surface, and is what the patient eats with.

We also provide implant restorations with bridges, as a way for patients to have more comfort and stability in their teeth replacement options. This lets them have their restorations for longer periods of time, and don’t have to worry about them shifting or falling out. Patients can also eat a wider variety of foods when they use implants for restorations.

Call us at 281-421-5950 to schedule an implant restoration appointment with
Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti.

Invisalign

Having straighter teeth is something many of our patients hope for. Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti’s dental practice offers options for straightening the teeth, which include Invisalign. Here at our Baytown cosmetic and family dentistry practice, our patients appreciate having this option, as Invisalign can be worn for less time than traditional braces.  They are a comfortable, removable and nearly invisible orthodontic alternative.

The process of having Invisalign and getting your teeth straightened is simple and straightforward. The steps are as follows:

1) Get an examination from Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, which includes getting impressions of your teeth and viewing the 3D image of your aligners.

2) Return to our office in 2-3 weeks for your first set of aligners.

3) Receive instructions on placing, using and cleaning the Invisalign aligners.

4) Return periodically for new aligners that will continue to tighten and move your teeth to the final position.

Patients who get Invisalign aligners will be instructed to keep them clean and well maintained. Patients remove the aligners while brushing and flossing their teeth, as well as while eating meals. They are worn the rest of the day and work quickly to straighten their teeth. Give us a call at (281) 421-5950  to learn more about Invisalign!

Thin Veneers

Cosmetic dentistry helps improve our patient’s confidence and gives them a new reason to smile. We offer thin veneers as an option for improving the appearance of patient’s teeth, which is ideal for teeth that are stained, misshapen, chipped or unevenly spaced. The thin veneers, also called Lumineers, are thinner than traditional veneers, though just as stable and effective. They look and feel like natural teeth and will not be noticeable to others, aside from having a brilliant smile, that is.

Thin veneers are made from porcelain that is extremely thin and shaped to fit over the patient’s teeth. They are bonded to the tooth so after a few days, our patients can eat with the veneers and not worry about them shifting or breaking off. Since they are thin, there isn’t as much contouring needed as there is with regular veneers in order to make room for the veneers.

Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti can complete the thin veneer procedure in as little as two visits, beginning with the preparation of the tooth and making impressions to bonding the veneers to the tooth or teeth. Call our office in Baytown, TX at (281) 421-5950 to learn more about thin veneers.
