Teeth Whitening

At Ivi Z. Sanguinetti DDS, PA 's office, patients are always looking for ways to brighten their smiles. Even when you take care of your oral health, some staining to the teeth can occur over time.
We are happy to offer a whitening service to patients with serious staining to the teeth, and those with minor stains who want to achieve a dazzling white smile. A consultation with a dentist can help you determine how severe your stains are and what kind of results you can expect from a whitening treatment.
To whiten your teeth at home, we outfit patients with whitening gel and custom trays for application.  A dentist takes an impression of your teeth, and from this impression two custom trays are made for your top and bottom teeth. These trays are made for you to take home and use by applying gel to the trays and then fitting them over your teeth. The dentist’s recommendation of how often to treat and how long each treatment should last may vary. Most patients see results of teeth whitening 4-8 shades within a few days of properly using this system.

Invisalign

Dr. Sanguinetti’s interests in both cosmetic and family dentistry are not unrelated. She understands that, necessary though orthodontics often are, people of all ages are reluctant to wear braces. Part of this may be due to outdated notions of what braces look like and how delicate they are—modern braces come in a variety of options. But for people who only need moderate tooth adjustment, Invisalign may be an ideal solution.

Invisalign is a brand-name aligner system which has been on the market since 1997, and is now covered by most of the same insurance policies which cover traditional braces. They are made of clear plastic and are slipped on and off of the teeth by the patient. This evades the difficulty patients with traditional braces had maintaining their oral hygiene, and allows the patient to continue to eat all the same foods. It also makes aligners significantly safer, since they can be taken out if a patient is playing a sport, and even if they do get damaged, they can be instantly removed without professional assistance.

Indeed, though Invisalign needs to be worn twenty-two hours a day, it requires less oversight than other orthodontic options. When a patient first chooses to use Invisalign, Dr. Sanguinetti makes an impression of their mouth and uses 3D-imaging software to devise a treatment plan. The impression and specifications are then sent off to Invisalign’s manufacturer. Each aligner shifts the patient’s teeth slightly more than the one in the series which preceded it, and patients get three aligners at a time. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks, and patients will visit Dr. Sanguinetti every six weeks for a new set of aligners and so she can observe their progress.

That Invisalign is invisible is obviously one of the main reasons patients prefer it, but it has other advantages, as well. The lack of brackets often makes for a more comfortable experience, and the manufacturer provides an invisible retainer to be worn after alignment is complete. Because Invisalign can only be used to fix moderate malocclusions, not everyone is eligible for it. But those who are will likely not have to wear it for as long as those with traditional braces, making it an attractive middle ground to people who do not want to have to wear traditional braces to correct minor problems.

Veneers

Individuals that brush and floss stand a better chance of avoiding tooth decay and gum disease. This said it doesn’t always mean that they will have the smile of their dreams. Getting a beautiful smile might take a little bit of help from a professional such as Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti DDS, PA in Baytown, Texas. You can take advantage of technological advances such as veneers to cover stained, chipped or otherwise damaged teeth.

How Veneers Work
Veneers are created to fit over the front of the teeth that you want to cover up. They are made by taking a mold of the teeth in question and then placing them on the teeth with a special adhesive. In many cases, the teeth need to be prepared for the veneers by removing a layer of the tooth or enamel to make sure that the veneers fit in place well. There are several options for veneers including porcelain and resin. These can provide you with a beautiful looking smile that will last many years with proper care. The veneers will look like natural teeth, but in better condition than the teeth you are trying to cover up.

If you are looking for a way to get a smile you can be confident in, contact our office. We would love to talk about all the options that you have and how we can help you. Call us today at 281-421-5950 to schedule your appointment. You can have the smile that you want and make the best impression possible.

Toothache

We’ve all been there; you have a tooth ache and need to see a dentist. A medical history and physical exam is needed in order to diagnose a toothache. A Baytown Texas dentist such as Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, DDS, PA can perform various tests in order to determine the cause of the pain.

Treating a Toothache

A Panorex x-ray offers a 3-D look at all angles of the mouth to determine the cause of the pain. Tooth pain and jaw pain can be caused by tooth decay and/or infection, damaged fillings, infected gums or from a chipped or broken tooth. Some triggers of pain may be from cold or hot, sweets, putting other pressure on the tooth or biting down in general.

In severe cases, a tooth extraction may be required. For some teeth, a root canal will be needed sometimes in conjunction with a dental crown. If there is swelling present in the jaw, a dentist will prescribe an antibiotic. A professional dentist can determine what dental procedure is required in order to restore the health of the tooth.

After having tooth pain treated with a professional dentist, good dental hygiene is important. A regular brushing and flossing routine is imperative for one’s overall health. Also routine and follow-up appointments can help relieve dental pain faster.

To schedule an appointment with a Baytown Texas dentist today, call 281-421-5950. Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, DDS, PA cannot wait to help you restore your dental health.

Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti, DDS, PA Offers Dental Implants in our Baytown, TX Dental Office

When it comes to tooth replacement, many patients desire the best option. While there are multiple options for every type of patient, Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti, DDS, PA of Baytown, TX provides our patients with dental implants as a permanent option for tooth replacement.

Tooth replacement is very important. While it is obvious that teeth are needed for biting, chewing, and smiling, what many people do not realize is that they help shape our jaw and face. When teeth go missing for a long time, the jawbone in that area begins to disintegrate. The jaw changes shape and can cause facial muscles to sag. This changes your facial appearance, often making patients appear older than they are. This is why it is important to replace teeth as soon as you can.

In addition, it is nice to have a replacement that will not need to be replaced again in the future. Dental implants are a permanent option that has the ability to last a lifetime. The titanium implant post is inserted into the bone socket, where the tooth’s normal root would be. Since this is a surgical procedure, there will be some healing time required before the permanent replacement crown can be attached. After several months, an abutment will be attached to the post and impressions will be taken of the area. A dental laboratory will create a custom crown which will be permanently cemented into place. While the lab is making your custom crown, a temporary one will be worn for use of the tooth and protection of the area. After the custom crown is attached, the process is complete and you have a permanently replaced tooth. Your smile will be whole once again.

If you are looking for a permanent option for tooth replacement, a dental implant is the way to go. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti, DDS, PA in our Baytown, PA office, please call us at (281) 421-5950 or visit our website, www.singing-dentist.com.

Dental Bonding and White Fillings with Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti, DDS, PA

When a tooth is cracked or damaged due to injury or decay, it becomes weak. Not to mention, it can put a damper on a smile. In the past, silver amalgam fillings were the option for restoring damaged or decayed teeth. These days, Dr. Ivi Z. Sanguinetti, DDS, PA offers white bonding and fillings to her patients in our Baytown, TX office so that their smile is not only strong again, but looks great!

Dental bonding and fillings are now created using a composite resin colored to match your teeth. Dental bonding is great for teeth that are chipped, cracked, misshapen, gapped, and more. It can even be used to whiten teeth. The teeth are prepared with light etching for a strong bond and then the resin is shaped over the imperfection in the tooth. A light is used to harden the resin and afterwards it is polished to shine like a normal tooth. For whitening, the resin is smoothed over the whole smile. With good care, bonding can last for about ten years. That means long-lasting white teeth.

For fillings, unsightly silver amalgam fillings are no longer needed. We use our composite resin in the same way as we use it for bonding. However, for cavities, first we remove any decayed tooth tissue. We then etch the area to aid a strong bond and apply the resin. After it is hardened, it is also polished to shine like a normal tooth. White fillings are strong and are a welcome aesthetic improvement over the silver-colored fillings of the past.

If you are unhappy with an imperfection in your smile or are experiencing pain to a tooth, schedule an appointment with us to see if dental bonding or white fillings are right for you.
