Crowns are a type of restoration that is performed right here in our Baytown office by Dr. Ivi Sanguinetti, and are placed for a variety of different reasons. While many patients do indeed get them as a restorative option, such as to protect a tooth at risk of breaking off or one that has deep decay, crowns are also desired for cosmetic reasons. Patients see us about 2-3 times in total for crowns placement. The straightforward process is as follows:
1. Patients first have a consultation to have a look at the tooth, clean it thoroughly and then it is prepared by being filed down.
2. Then, we make an impression of the tooth in order to have a permanent crown fabricated.
3. After the fabricated crown is back from the lab, our patient returns to our office to have the crown bonded to their tooth. The bonding dries quickly, after which it is polished.
